Pacific Ocean – before dawn… US Navy flight deck crew ready a San Diego, California-based USCG HH-60J Jayhawk helicopter for launch from the nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). The mission took place 15 December 2008 tasked to rescue an injured merchant sailor from a Liberian cargo ship. The patient was successfully rescued from the civilian vessel, flown to the Lincoln to stabilize his condition and then transported onward to San Francisco for additional care.Read More
