UPS fleet of GE-powered aircraft grows with 747 order

EVENDALE, OHIO-September 8, 2005 - With the UPS selection of GE jet engines for its new Boeing 747-400F aircraft, the world's largest package delivery company continues to increase its fleet of GE-powered aircraft.


UPS selected GE's CF6-80C2 engines to power its new eight Boeing 747-400F aircraft. The value of the engine deal was not disclosed. Aircraft deliveries begin in 2007.

The company already operates 80 aircraft powered by GE and CFM International engines: 32 Boeing 767-300F and 7 MD-11 aircraft powered by CF6-80C2 engines, and 41 DC-8 aircraft powered by CFM56-2 engines. CFM International is a 50/50 joint company of GE and Snecma of France.
