Osama bin Laden Dead – Breaking News

Osama bin Laden is dead according to a statement made by U.S. President Barack Obama late on the evening (ET), 1 May 2011. The self-proclaimed party behind the attacks on the United States on 11 September 2001 was apparently attacked and killed by US Special Operations or Intelligence Forces during a mission in Pakistan earlier the same day.

President Obama went on national television to explain in some detail a time line of his administration's prioritizing the killing or capture of al Qaeda leader bin Laden, the start of real information about where the target was, and the actions which resulted in the killing of bin Laden today.

The US President also said that the forces involved, after killing bin Laden in a firefight, took custody of his body. That was done, it is presumed, in order to carry out test using DNA and other means to verify the identity and prove it was indeed bin Laden they killed.
