Army CH-47 Chinook Helicopters Rise To Afghan Combat Challenges
Army Sargent Victor Gardner reports in this military news video on a CH-47 Chinook air assault into the mountains of Afghanistan to destroy two weapons caches. The mission was carried out by Task Force Rakkasan, Apache Company, 1-33 Cavalry, 101st Airborne Division along with elements of the Afghan National Army.
The CH-47 helicopters lifted the Rakkasans into the hills touching down with a pinnacle landing. On arrival, the weapons and other supplies of the insurgents were destroyed.
The Rakkasans have a long and distinguished history in airborne combat stemming back to operations in the Pacific Theater of WWII.
