Breaking News: North Korea Says Kim Jong-il Dead

North Korea's state-run television has announced that Kim Jong-il is dead. According to the announcement, Mr. Kim died at the age of 69 while on a train trip somewhere outside the North Korean capital of Pyongyang.

Two versions of Mr. Kim's death have been offered by the official news agency. At first it was said he died of mental and physical over-work. However, later the agency claimed it was a heart attack.

Unsurprisingly, both South Korea and Japan have heightened their military readiness, according to reports.
