Embraer is joining together with Brazilian energy company EDP to pursue research into the feasibility of electric aircraft. Initial efforts are focused on an all electric Embraer EMB-203 Ipanema demonstrator aircraft which the company expects to fly in 2021.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is allowing the Boeing 737 MAX to fly and carry airline passengers again. On November 18, 2020, FAA Administrator Steve Dickson signed an order rescinding the grounding, in effect since March 13, 2019.
