FedEx Buys Boeing 777 Freighters – Cancels A380s

Air cargo and freight operator Federal Express (FedEx) has cancelled its order for 10 Airbus A380s and replaced them with Boeing B-777F freighters according to statements issued by the carrier and Boeing.


"The decision to purchase the 777F was made after Airbus announced significant delays in delivery of the A380. FedEx Express notified Airbus that it has cancelled its order for 10 A380-800Fs," said the FedEx press release.

The loss of the A380 sale could be cost Airbus up to $2.5 billon.

Boeing says FedEx has purchased 15 Boeing 777 Freighters, with options for 15 more of the large cargo aircraft.
